What are the 3 ways to improve your Arabic?
When you start learning a language, Arabic, in your case, listening and reading are the most important elements to progress quickly.
The method is simple.
Practice learning the Arabic language every day. This technique will allow you to master the Arabic language in the long term.
Four important components are required to learn Arabic:
- The translation
Translation consists of translating a sentence or text from your mother tongue (English) into your target language (Arabic). It is the opposite of what people usually do.
This method developed by Luca Lampariello (a polyglot speaking around 13 languages) allows 80% of the information studied to be retained. To learn the Arabic language quickly, you don’t need to study 10 hours a day, as you may get bored and exhausted.

The time to improve your Arabic
Improve your Arabic gradually
The faster you learn, the faster you will forget if the information is not used regularly. The success of learning Arabic effectively is the retention of the language over the long term.
Learning must be progressive and structured to create a “linguistic core”.
By learning Arabic this way, you will be able to have a decent conversation even after a two-year break without practising it.
As it is said: “there is no point in running, you have to start on time”.
This means that you should not rush into learning the Arabic language. Take your time, as much as necessary, to achieve your goal.
It’s not a race. The main thing is to learn a little bit every day.
The linguistic core to improve your Arabic
Improve your Arabic by prioritizing quality over quantity
Developing a “linguistic core” will provide you with a solid foundation in the Arabic language. In fact, when learning Arabic, try to learn by emphasizing quality over quantity.
By doing this, you will acquire an excellent foundation.
Know that the quality of studying Arabic in the first 8, 12 months is crucial and very important. Once you have a solid foundation, or if you have the time and the motivation, the necessary ingredient for good Arabic language acquisition will be quantity.
You will see that it will be straightforward to do more Arabic because you will be able to practice it by reading things that interest you. You will be able to communicate on subjects you enjoy. In other words, you will be in a natural phase of practising Arabic.
Preparation to improve your Arabic
Create connections with the Arabic language
To improve your Arabic, you need to prepare yourself and train your brain to receive content. Absorb the sounds and essence of the Arabic language. This will develop “plasticity” in your brain towards the Arabic language.
- Get used to listening and reading a lot at the beginning.
- Get used to the rhythm of the Arabic language.
By doing this, your brain will make connections with that language. Once you have developed a large amount of passive vocabulary, listening, and reading will be extremely effective in learning Arabic.
Indeed, if you already know many words in Arabic, you will be able to understand more easily and enjoy it when reading an article, for example, or listening to a podcast.
Improving your Arabic will take time and effort, especially at the beginning of your study. This step is crucial to building a solid base, a “linguistic core”.
Once you have completed this step, all you need to do is enjoy this beautiful language by doing things that interest you, like reading books, listening, etc.
Studying Arabic is not a sprint but rather a long-distance race.
